Sodium bentonite is divided according to the type and content of exchangeable cations between layers of montmorillonite: the one with alkalinity coefficient greater than or equal to 1 is sodium bentonite, and the one with alkalinity coefficient less than 1 is calcium bentonite.
The failure temperature of artificial sodium bentonite is different due to different sodium conditions, but they are all lower than that of natural sodium bentonite; the expansion force of natural sodium bentonite is larger than that of artificial sodium bentonite; the c-axis order of natural sodium bentonite is higher than that of artificial sodium bentonite, with finer grains and strong dispersion. It is mainly manifested in: slow water absorption, high water absorption and expansion ratio; high cation exchange capacity; good dispersion in water medium, high colloidal price; good thixotropy, viscosity, lubricity, pH value; good thermal stability; high plasticity and strong adhesion; high hot wet tensile strength and dry pressure strength. Therefore, the use value and economic value of sodium bentonite are higher. The physical and chemical properties of artificial sodium bentonite depend not only on the type and content of montmorillonite, but also on the method and degree of artificial sodium.

Application
1. In drilling well, the drilling mud suspension with high fluidity and thixotropy is arranged.
